Wood wax, also known as Japanese wax, is a milky colored waxy substance with a sour odor. It is not hard, but has good toughness, ductility and viscosity. The main component of wood wax is the triglyceride of palmitic acid, which belongs to vegetable fat or high melting fat. This substance mixes easily with beeswax, cocoa butter, and other triglycerides, and can be saponified by alkali to form emulsions. Therefore, wood wax is often used to make cosmetics such as lotions and creams.
